Please everyone be careful today. Check on your elderly neighbor's. Remember to stay hydrated and indoors in air conditioning.We'll be experiencing an extreme heat wave today through this weekend. With temperatures in the mid 90s and heat index up to 115, it will be very dangerous to be outside for long times. Try to spend as much time as possible inside air conditioned buildings. Drink plenty of water or beverages with electrolytes to stay hydrated.

If you or someone you know does not have A/C in your home, look up cooling centers nearby.

Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Check in on friends and family who might not have A/C.

Besides the effects of the heat on people, the heat will impact animals as well. Blacktop will be extremely hot and can burn the paws of your pets. Try to walk your pets on grass instead of on the road when possible. It is better to leave your pets home than to bring them out with you to run errands.
